Former TIFF guest Carla Simón wins the Golden Bear at the 2022 Berlinale
Alcarràs, the second feature by Catalan filmmaker Carla Simón, has won the Golden Bear 2022 of the 72nd Berlinale, unanimously praised by the jury for her emotional portrayal of a small family of Catalan farmers facing eviction.
Simon attended TIFF in 2017, presenting her debut film, Summer 1993, which won the Best First Feature Award at the Berlinale in the same year. Summer 1993 was released in Romania by Transilvania Film and was selected as the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2018 Academy Awards.
